2014 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here's an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 470 times in 2014. If it were a cable car, it would take about 8 trips to carry that many people.

How to fishtail braid

Hey guys! For today’s post, I wanted to show y’all how to do a fishtail braid. I love the fishtail braid because it looks complex but it’s very simple and it looks beautiful when done. Let’s get right into it!

Step 1:

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1490.jpg

Comb your hair through to get rid of all tangles and comb it backwards. Then separate it into two sections.

Step 2:

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1491.jpg

Take a small section of hair from the outer edge of the section on the left, and cross it to the inner part of the section on the right.

Step 3:

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1492.jpg

Take a section about the same size as the other section from the outer edge of the right section, and bring it to the inner part of the left section so that the little sections cross.

Repeat steps 2 & 3 and the braid should start to look like this:

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1498.jpg

Once you get your braid to look like this, just continue where you left off. It’s ok to gradually use smaller sections as you get closer and closer to the end of the braid, just make sure to make them the same size. And also make sure to pull the sections tight so the braid won’t fall out.

The end result:

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1494.jpg

That’s all for this hairstyle! I hope you enjoyed it, and see you guys next time!

Christmas: Outfit, Hair, and makeup

Hi everyone. So today I wanted to show you guys my outfit, hair, and makeup for Christmas this year. I know since Christmas is passed that you can’t take inspiration from this for Christmas this year, but you could take inspiration from it for a New Year’s party or maybe for Christmas next year. Let’s go ahead and get right into it.

Outfit:

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1476.jpg

Red and black peplum dress with pearl necklace: Ross, $15
Black bow wedges: Ross, $17

Hair:

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1478.jpg

For this hairstyle, I had my hair in two french-braided pigtails the day before and I slept in them overnight. This resulted in some small waves that I thought looked fantastic with my dress.

Makeup:

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1475.jpg

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1477.jpg

For this makeup look, I started with my concealer and applied it lightly to wherever it was needed. Next, I took a gold eyeshadow and applied all over my eyelids. Then I took some black gel eyeliner and lined my top eyelash line, and extended it a little bit beyond my lash line. Then I took some medium-dark pink blush and applied it to my cheekbones. Lastly, I put on a dark red lipstick, following my natural lip line.

And that is all! I hope you guys enjoyed my post and see you next time!

Winter nail colors 2014!

Hey guys. Today I wanted to show you my nail colors for winter to inspire you for your own nails or maybe for colors for your outfits. So here they are!

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1439.jpg

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme wear in White On
This is just a nice, simple, white color for winter. You can use this for so many things, like nail art to create snowflakes or just to look nice and clean for winter. This needs about two coats to put on and it’s great because it doesn’t chip very quickly.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1440.jpg

Pure Ice nail polish in Scream
This is a bit brighter more greenish turquoise color that looks kind of summery but you can easily make it look good for the winter season. Blue colors are great for the winter and this color goes perfectly paired with maybe a lighter blue.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1441.jpg

Ulta nail polish in Red Carpet Red
This nail color is absolutely perfect for Christmas time! However, it is kind of see through, so you have to use about 3 or 4 coats of it to get a satisfying red color, but is so pretty when you’re done! It looks super beautiful paired with a gold nail color on an accent nail.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1442.jpg

Ulta nail polish in High Roller
This is my favorite gold nail polish ever! It looks glittery, but the glitter in it isn’t that big so it’s easy to get off. It also looks stunning paired with the red nail polish mentioned above. This color is so great for the holidays, and I really love it.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1443.jpg

Color Club nail polish in Factory Girl
This is a nice light blue that is pretty much the epitome of December. It just describes winter perfectly! This nail polish is kind of thin, so I would recommend doing about two coats of it. This color would look nice paired with a white nail polish.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1444.jpg
Charming Charlie’s glittery green nail polish
I couldn’t find a name on this nail polish, but it is easily recognizable. It is such a beautiful emerald greenish color and the glitter in it is small so it is easy to remove. I think this color is just perfect for Christmas and would look great with a bright red color.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1445.jpg
Elf nail polish in Enchanted
This is just a clear topcoat with big and small pieces of white glitter in it. This polish is awesome for winter because layered over another color, it kinda looks like snowflakes.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1446.jpg
Sally Hansen hard as nails in
Cinna-snap
This is a nice maroon nail color that you could use for either fall or winter. It is kind of thin though, so a couple coats of it would make it pop more.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1447.jpg

Sally Hansen magnetic nail color in Ionic Indigo
This is a magnetic nail polish, so it looks cool when you finish with it you can make interesting patterns with it. It is a metallic navy color and it fits in with other winter nail colors wonderfully.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1448.jpg

Elf nail polish in Red-y or Not
This nail polish is a bit darker than the red Ulta nail polish and it is shimmery. It would look amazing with the green polish from Charming Charlie’s.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1449.jpg

L’oreal nail polish in After Hours
This nail color is a really dark navy color. If you put it on, make sure you put it on thinly so it doesn’t look like it’s black.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1450.jpg
Pure Ice nail polish in Looks Like Rain
This nail color is a clear coat with lots of small green glitter pieces and larger silver glitter pieces. This color would look so great over a bright red nail polish. It would remind me of a Christmas tree.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1451.jpg

Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail color in Silver Elements
This nail polish is a nice steely, gray charcoal kind of color. Also, it’s magnetic and metallic so it looks super cool.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/0bf/76212855/files/2014/12/img_1452.jpg

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme wear nail polish in Gunmetal
This is a shimmery gray-blue type of color which is on the darker side, but is still perfect for winter.

One day Pia finds a hole in the fence surrounding her home and when she goes through it she meets a local villager, Eio. Beauty kit: Ulta, $20
I got this for my birthday this year, and let me just say, this is the best beauty thing ever. It has an assortment of brushes, pencil eyeliner, brow filler, eyeshadow, blush, setting powder, lipstick, gel eyeliner, wax, lip primer, highlighter, concealer, and more! This is great if you need to do your makeup quickly because you won’t have to search through your makeup bag for what you need. Plus there are so many makeup looks you could create with this! Ever since getting this, I literally wake up in the morning more exciting for my day and more inspired to try new makeup looks for school. I strongly advise to put this on your Christmas list or buy it yourself!

Others:

Covet fashion: free (in most app stores)
This is my most favorite game ever! I have been playing this for a little over a year now and I’m still in love with it. In this game, you can buy clothes and enter fashion events wearing the clothes. You need tickets to enter the fashion events, and you get those by voting on other people’s looks for events. When you enter events, you are given money so you can buy more clothing. This game is kind of hard to explain, and it sounds a bit boring form my description, but I promise you it is amazing. Just try it out.

French braided bun

Hey guys. I found this hairstyle on Pinterest a while ago and I wanted to recreate it and write out some instructions for you so you can do it too. It’s fairly easy if you know how to french braid. Let’s get right into it.
1) Comb the tangles out of your hair and comb it all back.
2) Comb a small front section forwards and put it in a ponytail.
3) Comb the rest of the hair back into a ponytail.

IMG_1365.JPG
4) Make sure all of your hair is combed through with no tangles.
5) Take the front section of hair out of the ponytail holder.
6) Take a small section of hair from the front section and two sections of equal size from the big ponytail and start braiding them.

IMG_1366.JPG
7) Gradually add sections from either section and french braid them in.
8) Once you have used up all of the front section, just French braid sections into the rest of the braid from the ponytail.

IMG_1367.JPG
9) Twist the braid around the ponytail as you braid.

IMG_1368.JPG
10) After you have French braided the rest of the hair from the ponytail, braid the rest of the hair normally, and bobby pin the end of the braid. Then tuck the end of the braid in the bun and bobby pin it in.

IMG_1370.JPG

IMG_1369.JPG
And you are done! This is super simple once you get the hang of it, and a nice twist on a bun too. Plus if you sleep in it it will make your hair curly. That’s all for today. See you next time!

PS: My bun looked kind of weird, so I included the picture I used for reference so you might be able to see it better.

My birthday sleepover!

So today I’m having a birthday sleepover for a birthday party and I wanted to show you my hair, makeup, and pjs. So let’s just get right into it!

Pjs:

Turquoise v-neck: Kohls, $20
Grey melange jogger pants: Kohls, $30
I love these pants because you can wear them as pajamas or you could exercise in them.

Hair:

IMG_1356.JPG

For today I just curled my hair with my curling wand.

IMG_1360.JPG
Remington curling wand 1-1/2 inches: Target, $20

So for my makeup today, I just did a simple purple smoky eye.

IMG_1362.JPG
How to: Take a light purple shimmery eyeshadow and apply it all over your eyelids. Then take a plum colored eyeshadow and apply it over half of your eyelid and blend it with the first eyeshadow you put on. Then apply a dark purple eyeshadow on the outer edge of your eyelid and blend it with the other eyeshadow. And you are done! This is so simple and easy to do!
I hope you enjoyed my post today! See you next time!

Inside-out French braid (AKA French Dutch braid)

Hey everyone. So today I wanted to show you how to do a hairstyle that’s perfect for school or any occasion. It looks complicated, but once you get the hang of it, it’s really easy and quick.
So before we start this hairstyle you will have to know how to Dutch braid. A Dutch braid is basically the same thing as a regular braid, only backwards.
1) Separate your hair into 3 sections.
2) Instead of braiding the sections over each other like you do for a regular
braid, braid them under each other.

Once you’re finished, it should look like the underside of a normal braid. To see if you did it right, just look at the underside of the braid you just did and if it looks like a normal braid, then you braided it correctly.

To do this hairstyle, you will also need to know how to french braid.
1) To french braid, you take a section of hair from the top of your head after you comb it back, and divide it into 3 sections.
2) Then you braid them together in a normal braid once.
3) Next, take a section of hair (small or big) and add it to one of the 3 sections and braid it in like a normal braid.
4) Repeat step 3 until all of the hair on the scalp area is used up.
5) Then just braid the rest of your hair in a normal braid.

So once you know how to do both of these braids, you can combine them.
Instead of starting with a regular braid, just start with a Dutch braid and add sections and braid them in until you get to the bottom, then Dutch braid the remaining hair.
How it should look starting out:
IMG_1350.JPG
How it should look when you’re finished braiding in all sections:
IMG_1351.JPG
Finished braid:

IMG_1352-0.JPG

I love this hairstyle for wearing to school, or when I go out. It’s really simple once you get to know how to do it and it’s really quick too. It’s also very unique, and it’s great way to every once in while, change up how your hair looks.
Also, if you leave this braid in all day and sleep in it, when you take it out the next day, you will have nice, thick, waves. If you do this, then you’ll have an effortless hairstyle for the next day too! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, and see you next time!

What to do on a rainy day: Winter Edition! ⛄❄

Hey guys. So today it unexpectedly rained, so my ideas for today’s blog post were pretty much ruined. I’m hopefully just going to post my ideas for today’s post on Tuesday, Saturday at the latest. It was so yucky today that I definitely could not go out today, which also ruined my plans to go shopping with my best friend, so I just decided to focus on a new idea for my blog post today. So today I’m going to tell you what you can do on a rainy day when you’re stuck inside and have nothing to do.

  1. Put up Christmas decorations
  2. Put up your Christmas tree and decorate it
  3. Make some crafts or food. Here are the links to all of my DIYS so far:

4. Paint your nails. Here is my nail art DIY:

https://nicolefemme2000.wordpress.com/2014/10/11/diy-fall-leaf-nail-art/

5. Get caught up on your favorite TV show or watch a new movie. If you don’t have Netflix, a great website you can use is http://pollystreaming.com/ It is a website that has most popular TV shows and movies. You can watch them for free, and you don’t have to sign up or answer a survey or anything. If you don’t know what to watch, for movies I recommend Easy A. It’s super funny, and it has my favorite actress in it, Emma Stone. For TV shows I recommend Criminal Minds and The Lying Game.

6. Invite your friends over for a baking party.

7. Go on YouTube and explore new channels. Some of my favorites are:

Humor:

Todrick Hall: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1VYb0EKcZuy9rG3q0VR57Q

IISuperwomanII: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfm4y4rHF5HGrSr-qbvOwOg

8. Read a good book or a magazine

9. Exercise. I will admit that I’m very lazy, but every once in a while, I’ll at least be in the mood to do yoga. If you don’t feel like sweating all over the place, then yoga is perfect for you. It is so relaxing, and it literally melts your stress away.

10. Start your own blog. You most likely won’t become internet famous once you start, but over time, more and more people will take notice of you. It’s a great way to showcase your style, artwork, writing, or whatever is your specialty. Plus you’ll inspire others, and you’ll have something to do whenever you have spare time.

That’s all for this post! See you next time!
