Get Ready With Me: School Semi-Formal Dance

Hi Everyone! Yesterday was my school’s semi-formal dance, which was super fun! So today I wanted to show you guys my outfit and hair, and tell you how to do my hairstyle. Let’s get right into it!

Outfit:

Navy Blue Lace Jeweled Bodycon Dress- Dillard’s, $90 on sale

Silver Glittery kitten heels- Payless, $25

Hairstyle:

This hairstyle is a French Fishtail Braid twisted into a side bun.

Step 1: Comb your hair back.

Step 2: Grab a section of hair at the right side of your head and split it into two sections.

Step 3: Start it like a regular fishtail braid with only one rotation. If you need help, here is a link to an earlier post that can help you:

https://nicolefemme2000.wordpress.com/2015/01/14/5-cute-quick-and-easy-hairstyles-for-school/

Step 3: Start taking an outside section of hair and adding more hair to it, then crossing it over to the inside of the other section.

Step 4: Continue doing this across to the left side of your head.

Step 5: When there is no mor hesitate to add to it, braid like a regular fishtail braid all the way down.

Step 6: Secure with a hair elastic that matches your hair color, then twist it in a bun shape.

Step 7: Secure the bun with lots of bobby pins, hiding the end of the braid in the middle, and cover it with jeweled bobby pins if you would like.
And you’re done! This hairstyle is moderately easy, but time consuming. But the time spent is wort it because it looks elaborate and professional. I am super proud of this hairstyle, and I hope you guys try it out.

That’s all for today’s post! I hope you guys enjoyed it, and see you next time.

5 Summer Outfits ☀️🌞

Hey guys! Today I wanted to show you guys 5 outfits you can wear this summer, since May is almost over. I hope this post will inspire you.
Outfit 1:

‘We live by the sun, we feel by the moon’ tank top- Ross, $8

Soft Blue and White Patterned Pants- Ross, $8

Nude and Blue color blocked flats- Kohls, $15
This outfit is for a cooler summer day, because of the pants. These pants are super soft, to the point where it’s like you’re walking around in pajama pants all day. And even though they’re pants, they aren’t warm or hot, so you can still wear them during summertime.

Outfit 2:

Black Crop Top- Ross, $6

Studded Floral Skater Skirt- Sears, $15

Black Studded Gladiator Sandals- Steinmart, $25
This outfit is the perfect blend of edginess and girly. I love how the studded details make the floral print look a little less feminine.  Also, even though this crop top is black, it’s pretty thin so it can keep you a little cool.

Outfit 3:

Tropical Lace-trimmed Bralette- Kohls, $10

Black Embroidered Mesh Kimono- Charlotte Russe, $5 on sale

Black High-waisted Crochet Shorts- Ross, $15

Black Vans- Kohls, $50
I think this outfit has sort of a boho-urban vibe with all of these textures and the black color. I think the kimono adds a really cool touch to this outfit while not overheating you.

Outfit 4:

Black floral Bow-back Tank Top-  Rue 21, $15

Pink Paisley Skater Skirt- Aeropostale, $6 on sale

Black Bow Flats- Charming Charlie’s, $17
This outfit is a bit more dressy than the others, but it’s still super cute. It is also a little more girly, with the floral prints and bows.

Outfit 5:

Blue High-Necked tie dye Crop Top- Kohls, $5 on sale

White Scalloped High-waisted Shorts- TJ Maxx, $15

Shoes- Same as first outfit
In my opinion, this outfit practically screams summer. The color scheme reminds me of the ocean, and this is the type of outfit I see on Instagram and Pinterest all the time around summertime.

Those are all of my summer outfits. I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and see you next time!

Books

If Had Been With Me by Laura Nowlen
Summary:

If he had been with me everything would have been different…

I wasn’t with Finn on that August night. But I should’ve been. It was raining, of course. And he and Sylvie were arguing as he drove down the slick road. No one ever says what they were arguing about. Other people think it’s not important. They do not know there is another story. The story that lurks between the facts. What they do not know- the cause of the argument- is crucial. So let me tell you…

The Angel of Death by Alane Ferguson

Summary:

Cameryn took a sharp breath, then pushed through the doorway.  In the corner of the room stood an oak sleigh bed, and in the middle of the bed were the remains of Mr. Oakes. His limbs were at odd angles, like gnarled branches of trees, the legs contracted so tight his knees made steeples beneath the cotton sheet. She could see the tip of his tongue protruding. It was a strange color, a dark gray, extending beyond his lips, a shriveled turtle’s  head of a tongue peeking from the edge of his mouth. But that wasn’t the horror of it. When her mind finally registered the picture, she wished, in that instant, that she’d listened to Sheriff Jacobs. Because she was looking down at a face that was no longer there. A mask, like that from a horror show, replaced the face that she had known. Skin, no longer smooth like her teacher had worn in life, had now withered to the bones. Blood seeped down his teeth like painted lashes. But the worst was his eyes. The lids of his eyes had rolled back like window shades, revealing two dark holes. The eye sockets were empty.

Splintered by A.G. Howard

Summary:

Alyssa Gardner hears the thoughts of plants and animals. She hides her delusions for now, but she knows her fate: she will end up like her mother, in an institution. Madness has run in her family ever since her great-great-great-grandmother Alice Liddell told Lewis Carroll her strange dreams, inspiring his classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. But perhaps she’s not mad. And perhaps Caroll’s stories aren’t as whimsical as they first seem. To break the curse of insanity, Alyssa must go down the rabbit hole and right the wrongs of Wonderland, a place full of strange things with dark agendas. Alyssa brings her real-world crush-the protective Jeb-with her, but once her journey begins, she’s torn between his solidity and the enchanting, dangerous magic of Morpheus, her guide to Wonderland. But no one in Wonderland is who they seem to be-not even Alyssa herself…

An App called Remix by Polyvore

iTunes download link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/polyvore-remix-outfits-styling/id954637569?mt=8

This app is amazing! It’s a free app that helps you make and discover outfits. It shows daily trends and when you select one, you can then select an item from that category, and the app will generate an outfit for you. You can like the outfits, or press remix for some more. If you like an outfit, it will be saved so you can look at it later. This is great for me because if I find an item of clothing that is similar to what I have, I can remix outfits and get more inspiration for outfits with that clothing item. I use this app almost daily, and you guys would too if you would get it.
That’s all for my May Favorites! I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and see you next time!

4 Strand Lace-Up Braid

Hello Everyone! Today I went shopping with my friend for a dress for my formal school dance. So I’m super excited to make a post for getting ready for formal night later this month. Anyways, today I’m going to show you guys how to do this cool hairstyle I discovered. I found the directions for a braid on Pinterest, but it I looked totally different when I did it so I’ll just tell you my way of doing it. Let’s get started!
Step 1: Part your hair to the side.

Step 2: On the side of your part with more hair, grab a 1-inch section in the front, divide it in two, then divide those sections in two.

Step 3: The easiest way to think of doing this is to number each section from left to right, 1-4.

Step 4: Take section 4 and put it over section 3. Then take section 2 and put it over one, then wrap it under one and over section 4 (which will be in the right side of the middle at this point)

Step 5: Renumber the sections left to right, 1-4, and repeat step 4 until you get to a stopping point.

Step 6: Secure the braid with some bobby pins, and put a cute bow or clip over them if you would like.
The finishing result:

This little braid is pretty easy once you get the hang of it, and it looks super cute for school. I love this for a more casual day. I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and see you next time!

8 Runway Trends You Need to Try this Spring

Hello everyone! Today I wanted to show you guys some stylish looks from the spring 2015 runway. I hope these styles will inspire you and that you will try them out.
#1: Gladiator Sandals

I love these sandals. They are a great way to add a bit of edge to a girly outfit on a hot day. I have a short pair of them because I’m not brave enough to wear the knee-high ones. I have seen these a lot and I know that this is one of the top trends this season.
 Alexander McQueen Spring 2015

  Chloé Spring 2015

Valentino Spring 2015

#2: Metallic Sandals

These are great statement shoes! They’re relaxed and casual enough for hot spring days, yet shiny and metallic like jewelry so you can dress up or dress down an outfit.

Peter Som Spring 2015
  Just Cavalli Spring 2015

#3: Platform Sandals

These shoes tend to be a more modern, sporty look which I don’t wear much but for some reason, I am infatuated with them. They also are usually super comfortable, even if they don’t look like it.

Creatures of the Wind Spring 2015

Derek Lam Spring 2015

#4: Bold Tropicals and Florals

Everybody knows that floral print is pretty much the epitome of spring fashion. But now tropical prints are in style, and I am obsessed! It is currently my favorite clothing pattern and I think it adds a cute vibe to any outfit.

Osklen Spring 2015

Michael Kors Spring 2015

#5: Bucket Bags

I am also obsessed with bucket bags. I think they are dually cute and functional. I don’t currently have one, but I am saving up since I love them so much.

Ralph Lauren Spring 2015

Tony Burch Spring 2015

#6: Gingham Print

To be honest, I’m personally not a big fan of gingham, but it is all over the place in magazines and on the runway. This is a huge trend for this season, and I would recommend for you to try it out if you like it.

Oscar de la Renta Spring 2015
  Diane Von Furstenberg Spring 2015

#8: Bright Little Duffel Bags

These are some bright, boldly colored bags that can hold everything you need. They are a medium-sized bag, and perfect for toting around on a day out.

Fendi Spring 2015

Moschino Spring 2015

#8: 70’s inspired fringe

As most of you all probably know, the 70’s are back, and fringe is a perfect way to make your outfit more boho.  I don’t wear fringe much, but I will try more since it’s so popular on the runways.

Proenza Schouler Spring 2015

Alberta Ferretti Spring 2015

Those are all of the prominent runway trends this season. I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and see you next time!

Shoes I Wear in Spring+Summer

Hi guys! Today I wanted to show you some shoes I’ve been wearing this spring and that I’ll be wearing in summertime. I hope to inspire you guys in what shoes you wear. Let’s get started!

Black Silver-Studded Short Gladiator Sandals- Steinmart, $25

These shoes are great for if you want to get into the gladiator sandal trend, and want to look bold without looking too crazy. They add the perfect bit of edginess to a summer outfit.

Purple+ Orange Galaxy Vans- Vans, $50

This is a more casual tennis shoes that can be easily worn with almost anything. Plus the galaxy trend is vey popular.

Rose Gold Sandals- Kmart, $10

Metallic sandals are super stylish this season, and will probably be throughout the summer too. I love rose gold, and I constantly wear sandals or flip flops during the summer so these are great for any outfit. I think these would look nice with a cute romper or jumpsuit.

Brown Lace-Up Wedges- Dressbarn, $35

These shoes are more bohemian, which goes along with 70s/festival type trend going on right now. I think these would look very cute with a flowy dress.

Leopard-Print Cole Haan Sandals- From a friend

These are definitely some higher-end sandals. I would mostly wear these to dress up an outfit, like if I’m going out to dinner in the summer.

Floral Bow Flats- Target, $18

Floral is an obvious spring and summer trend, and the adorable bows on these flats make this print look even cuter.

Mint Almond-Toe Gold Studded Flats- Kohls, $20

Mint green is one of my favorite colors to wear in the spring, and I love how the studs on the back of the flats add a little edginess to an otherwise girly shoe.

Black Platform Sandals- $23

These shoes are definitely more modern than the others. I think they would look especially great with a romper or jumpsuit to make a very modern, streamlined look.  And despite their appearance, these are extremely comfortable and easy to walk in.
Those are all of my spring and summer shoes. I hope you liked this post, and it inspired you for footwear. See you guys next time!

How to Mix Patterns, Prints, and Textures for an Outfit

Hi everybody! Today I wanted to show & tell you guys how to mix patterns. I know some people are afraid to do this in case it looks too bold for them, but I want to help you if you are that kind of person. Even if you don’t particularly need help with this, it could still give you potential outfit ideas. So let’s get right into this post!

(These pictures included are just examples I found on Pinterest, they’re not actually me)
1. Patterns using the same color

All of these outfits have a similar color or colors in them to help balance out the boldness of the outfits.
2. Use colors in the same color family. For example, if your main outfit focus is mostly blue, you should use colors in the cool family (more blue, green, purple, blue-grays, etc)

3. Use the same pattern in two clothing items, either of different sizes of pattern, or inverted colors, or going in a different direction (for instance, vertical stripes+ horizontal stripes)

4. Mix patterns that have contrasting colors (black+white, red+green, orange +blue, yellow+purple)

5. Mix patterns with a similar shape to them (geometrical patterns like stripes, plaid, etc. go super well together.)

6. If you get really good at mixing prints, you can try to add completely different patterns together. Sometimes this looks amazing.

That’s all for today’s post! I hope you guys enjoyed it, and see you next time!
