Beauty Product Reviews June 2015

Hey everyone! I’ve been trying a lot of different beauty products lately, so for today’s post I thought that I would review them. Hopefully my reviews help you guys out for choosing your own beauty products. Let’s get started!

1) Maybelline Fit Me Matte Poreless Liquid Foundation

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Four stars

This is very nice foundation. It comes in many colors, so it was easy for me to find one that matches my skin tone. This foundation stays on for as long as 9 hours if needed, and doesn’t sweat off. However, if you use too much it can end up looking cakey.

2) Revlon Photoready insta-fix concealer

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Four stars

This concealer has a nice large stick. It can be hard to get it into smaller areas because of this, but it’s worth it. This concealer is light coverage, but it’s easy to apply another layer over it. This concealer also stays on for 6-8 hours.

3) Elf Sunkissed Glow Bronzer

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Five stars

I love elf products, and one day I needed some more bronzer and I stumbled upon this one. I bought it (it was only $2!). When this is on, it gives a nice look to your face. It is easy to apply and contour with.

4) Elf Eye Primer+ Liner Sealer

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Five Stars

This is a very unique product, and I’ve never seen anything like it. It is also extremely useful. The eye primer keeps eyeliner and eyeshadow on for about 7 hours, and it’s a nude color so it’s not visible if you’re just wearing eyeliner. The liner sealer is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a while. If you want the eyeliner look but don’t have any eyeliner or just don’t feel like going through the trouble to apply it, just apply a line of eyeshadow like eyeliner, then use the little brush a pit the liner sealer over the eyeshadow line. After you do this, the eyeshadow becomes exactly like liquid eyeliner! This is super cool, and I love this product.

5)Estée Lauder Bold Volume Mascara

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Four stars

I got this mascara in a free sample bag, so I didn’t have to pay for it. This was a good thing, because Estée Lauder is a more high end makeup brand. This mascara is a nice black color. It lengthens my eyelashes, but doesn’t really thicken them, so I put on two coats. This is one of the best mascaras I’ve used.

6)Maybelline Brow Drama Eyebrow Mascara (in soft brown)

⭐️⭐️

Two stars

I got this mascara as an alternative to filling in my eyebrows with powder because I’m bad at it. However, this product does not fill in your eyebrows. It may enhance the color, but your eyebrows look almost the same after application. One good thing this does do is that it shapes your eyebrows to a more desirable shape depending on how you more the brush. I would probably still use this since I don’t want to waste my money, but I would recommend filling in your eyebrows first.

7) Revlon Colorstay Skinny Liquid Eyeliner

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Four Stars

This eyeliner has a thin brush for easy application if you don’t want a dramatic look. It also has a deep, pigmented color so you don’t need to go over it again. It goes on easily and stays on very well. I would recommend this to everyone, but especially to beginners.

8) Burt’s Bees tinted lip balm in Pink Blossom

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Five stars

This color is nice for me because it’s only a tiny bit darker than my natural lip color. This product is great because if I don’t want to spend a lot of one applying lipstick then I’ll just put this on to achieve the same affect. This keeps my lips hydrated, and colors them at the same time. I wear this almost every day and I would recommend it to everyone.

9) Sally Hansen Gel Nail Polish and Top Coat

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Three stars

This nail polish is really pretty, however it is a bit expensive. ($9 each for colors and $9 for top coat) After I put this on, it started chipping the next day so I decided to see if it would come off if I peeled it and it came off more easily than normal nail polish. So this doesn’t last longer than plain nail polish and it’s not worth that much money.

That’s all of the beauty product reviews! I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and see you next time!

Books

  • Psych Major Syndrome by Alicia Thompson

Summary:

The patient, Leigh Nolan (that would be me), has just started her first year at Stiles College. She has decided to major in psychology (even though her parents would rather she study tarot cards, not Rorschach blots). Patient has always been very good at helping her friends with their problems, but when it comes to her own… not so much. Patient has a tendency to over analyze things, particularly when the opposite sex is involved. Like why doesn’t Andrew, her boyfriend of over a year, ever invite her to spend the night? Or why can’t she commit to taking the next step in their relationship? And why does his roommate, Nathan, dislike her so much? More importantly, why did Nathan have a starring role in a much-more-than-friendly dream? Aggravating factors include hyper-competitive fellow psych majors, a professor who is badly in need of her own psychoanalysis, and a middle-school-age mentee who thinks Patient is, in a word, naive.

  • Beautiful Lies by Jessica Warman

Summary:

No one can tell Alice and Rachel apart. But the twin sisters’ connection goes beyond their genetic similarities: when one is physically injured, the wound also shows up on the other twin’s body, no matter how far apart they may be. Sometimes, it even feels like they are the same person, split between two bodies. So when one twin mysteriously disappears, the other instantly feels it- especially when bruises and gashes inexplicably start appearing on her body. As the search to find her sister begins, the twin left behind must use their unique bond to uncover the truth behind the disappearance. But the deeper she digs into her sister’s life, the more she realizes that they haven’t shared everything with each other- and those secrets may ultimately sever their bond, and their lives, forever.

  • Kill you last by Todd Strasser

Summary:

Shelby never imagined that her family would be the subject of a police investigation, but that’s what happens when three teenage clients of her fashion photographer father go missing. Shelby’s seemingly perfect life of hot sports cars, travel, and unlimited shopping trips crumbles when her dad is named a prime suspect in the girls’ disappearance. Caught in the middle of the investigation, Shelby struggles to avoid the prying paparazzi, deal with threatening e-mails, and tolerate the hateful stares she gets at school. Meanwhile, the unanswered questions multiply. What’s the connection between the missing girls and her father? Is he as innocent as he claims? Does the great-looking guy who works with her dad have anything to do with the threatening e-mails she’s been receiving? As one shocking revelation follows another, Shelby discovers she must face the truth about who the most important people are in her life really are… and aren’t.

Beauty/Health

Secret Clear Geo Deodorant in pasion de mango

I got this because my previous deodorant got powdery and left white marks after a while, and I love this one! The gel is cool and smells amazing. It also does not leave white marks since it’s clear gel.

 Magnifying Mirror- Kohls, $6

I got this mirror so I can see my face better when I’m applying my makeup. I didn’t know it was magnifying until after I bought it, but that makes it even better. It’s great if yore trying to get the perfect eyeliner line and you want to see what you’re doing better.

Elf Sunkissed Glow Bronzer: Target, $2

I got this because I needed more bronzer, and I am in love with this one. It’s a very flattering color, and it’s fairly easy to apply and blend for a fresh summer look.

Elf Contouring Kabuki Brush: Target, $6

I got this because the brush I was using to apply bronzer to my cheek area wasn’t the right type. This one works wonderfully. It’s a bit big, but it’s the perfect size to contour my cheeks.

Revlon Photoready Concealer Stick, Target, $8

This concealer is great for me in the summertime because it gives bey light coverage, so it’s easy to layer more if needed, and it doesn’t feel heavy or cakey on your face. Also, this is a kind of large stick, so it might be a bit tough to get it into a smaller area but it’s worth it.

Others

Nike Supportive Flip Flops: Kohls, $10

These are great for the summertime, if you’re walking around a lot but don’t want to wear heavy tennis shoes that get all sweaty. It’s also great for vacation if you go to the beach or someplace like that, and you’re walking around a lot.

3DS Game: Tomodachi Life

This is a easygoing game that anyone can play. Basically, you are on a little island community where you can move in miis of your family, friends, and even celebrities or characters from other media. Everyone interacts and people can become best friends, start dating, and even get married and have children. This game is really easy and a fun way to pass the time. If you’re still not sure about this, but think it might be cool, I suggest checking out swimmingbird941’s series on this game. It’s very entertaining.
And that’s all of my June Favorites! But before I go, please check out a fellow blogger and friend’s blog. She posts very similar things to me if you like this sort of thing.

Summer Nail Polish Colors 💅🏻☀️

Hi everyone! Today I wanted to show you guys some of my favorite nail polish colors to wear during the summertime. I hope I can inspire you for what nail colors you get!

Ulta Nail Polish in Red Carpet Red

This is a nice, sophisticated, vibrant red color. This is more of a nail lacquer, so it’s thinner and it takes about 3 coats to achieve the desired red color, but it’s very beautiful.

Poparrazi Nail Polish in Tropic Tango

This is the type of nail color I would imagine wearing on my toenails on vacation on a beach somewhere tropical. It’s a bright, yet dark orange color. I’ve found that when it smudges, it turns sort of reddish around the smudged area which actually looks cool. If you don’t use a top and base coat with this nail polish, it will peel off very easily.

Flower Nail Polish in Eye of the Tiger Lily

This is a lighter, but still bright orange. This color reminds me of tangerines. This nail polish is a bit thin, so it will take a few coats to make the color opaque.

Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Polish in Coral Silk

This is a beautiful, feminine coral-peachy color with a hint of orange. This nail polish brand is very good, so it costs a bit more but it is easily found in drugstores like CVS and Walgreens.

Sally Hansen Triple Shine Nail Polish in Lemon Shark

As you can see, I’ve used this nail polish quite a bit. The brand is very reliable and on the cheaper side as well. This color is great for nail art. It’s a very energetic looking color, a bright shocking yellow.

Poparazzi Nail Polish in Lime-ousine Ride

This a very zesty lime green nail color. This reminds of something I would wear on the beach.

Nicole by OPI Nail Polish in Mer-Maid for each other

This nail polish is different from the others, because it is shimmery and opalescent. This color is a beautiful blue-green that looks like the colors of a mermaid’s tail.

Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Rise and Shine

This is another shimmery nail color, but this one is in a turquoise with a greenish tint. This color reminds of the tropical ocean.

Pure Ice Nail Polish in Scream

This is another turquoise nail polish, but this is more blue. This is one of my favorite colors. I wear this all the time, in fact I’m wearing it on my toes right now.

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Polish in Blue Me Away!

This is a very bold, bright blue color. It looks the summer sky on a hot day. However pretty it is, it can be kind of hard to remove and can stain your nails if you don’t use a base coat.

Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Endless Blue

This is a bold, cobalt blue color. I love this nail polish, and I wear it all the time.

Milani Fierce Foil Nail Polish in Rome

This is an orchid-lilac purple color with glitter in it. It’s very girly especially with the glitter, but I bet it looks cute on your fingernails when you’re on the beach.

Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Dream On

This nail polish is a super bright neon purple color. I am obsessed with this color and I wear it on my toes a lot.

Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Out of Bounds

This color is pretty similar to the previous one. However, this color is a more pinky-fuschia shade. It tends to look more pink on, but it’s still pretty.

ELF Nail Polish in Bubble Gum Pink

I don’t wear much pink nail polish, but when I’m in the mood for it, this color is great. It’s very girly and feminine.

Those are all of my summer nail colors! I hope you guys enjoyed this post and got some inspiration for your own nails. See you next time!

Pinterest Summer Fashion Trends You Need to Try Out

Hey everybody! Today I’m going to show you guys some current Pinterest summer fashion trends that I see all the time. I hope you guys try them out!
1) Matching Crop Top Sets

I think this is a really cute trend for the summertime. This is something that can easily be dressed up or down for any occasion.

2) Crop Top+ Floral Kimono or Sweater

This is a more girly looking trend, but still very nice. I typically see these flowery kimonos with a plain colored tank top. I think it adds another dimension to the outfit and spices it up a bit.

3) Flannel/Plaid Shirt Over a Summer Outfit

I think this is a really cool way to use part of your fall wardrobe in a summer outfit. The plaid adds sort of a grungy vibe to your outfit, and it can keep you warm if you live in a cooler climate as well.

4) Loose Tank Top Dresses

I see these all the time, and I think they’re a really great way to stay cool during the summer while still looking pretty.

5) Plain Swinsuits With Back Detailing

These bathing suits are super popular right now, and they look so adorable! The details give more interest to the plain colors, and I’m sure it would lead to interesting tan lines as well. 😉

6) Crystal Necklaces

I think these necklaces look really cool, and I’m obsessed with them. I think they’re really boho and natural looking, and super easy to style.

That’s all for the Pinterest Summer Fashion Trends! Here’s the link to my Pinterest if you want to give me a follow:

Splatter Nail Art

Hello everyone! I did my nails a few days ago and they turned out beautifully, so today I’m going to show you guys how to do it too. Let’s get started!
What you will need:

  • A paper plate
  • Paper towels
  • 3 nail polish colors
  • Clear top coat nail polish
  • Clear base coat nail polish
  • 2 disposable straws

Step 1: Put the base coat on your nails.

Step 2: Paint your nails with one color for the desired base color

Step 3: Put one color of nail polish on the plate. (About the amount shown down below for your fingernails.) Only do this for one color because the other color will be dry by the time you’re ready to use it if you put it on the plate.

Step 4: Take one of your straws and dip it in the nail polish. Make sure some of the nail polish is inside the straw, or it won’t work. Then blow out of the other side of the straw over one of your nails to create a splatter effect. Below is an example of what it should look like.

Step 5: Repeat step 4 for all of your nails.

Step 6: Repeat steps 3-5 with the other nail polish color.

Step 7: Put the clear top coat on your nails after they have dried a bit.

Step 8: Let your nails dry for a couple of hours, then clean up the edges around your nails if needed.
Finished Product:

I think this is a really cool and easy nail art DIY that anyone can do. This also looks amazing if you do it in red, white, and blue for the 4th of July. I really enjoyed doing this, and I hope you guys do too.  See you next time!

Summer Room Decor 2015

Hello everyone! Yesterday was the last day of school for me and it was a half day so my friend Emily rode the bus home with me. We made some crafts that I’ll tell you how to do. I hope you guys enjoy it!
Canvas Magnets

What you will need:

  • Assorted nail polish colors
  • Aluminum Baking Tray
  • Toothpicks
  • Water
  • Mini canvases
  • Magnets with foam adhesive

Step 1: Fill your tray with water.

Step 2: Pour out some nail polish in different colors over the water.

Step 3: Dip your canvas in the nail polish. While you are holding the canvas in the nail polish, take a toothpick and swirl it around in the nail polish a round the edges of the canvas to get of the excess nail polish.

Step 4: Repeat this with as many canvases as you would like.

Step 5: Set your canvases out to dry for over 6 hours. (This should probably be done overnight)

Step 6: Once your canvases have completely dried, take your magnets and stick them onto the back of the canvases.
Finished Product:

Nail Polish Jars

What you will need:

  • Assorted nail polish colors
  • Aluminum Baking Tray
  • Toothpicks
  • Water
  • Glass Jars

Step 1: Pour water into your tray.

Step 2: Pour nail polish colors over the water in the design you desire.

Step 3: Dip the bottom of a jar in the nail polish. While you are holding the jar in the water, use a toothpick to twist around the outside of the jar to get rid of the excess nail polish.

Step 4: Repeat with other jars and jar lids.

Step 5: Turn jars upside down and lay out jars and lids overnight to dry.

Step 6: Fill your jars!

That’s all for these DIYs! I hope y’all enjoyed this post, and see you next time!

Summer Haul 2015🌞

Hello guys! I have been accumulating lots of clothing so I could do a haul post, and now I have enough so I’ll show you everything I got. Let’s get started!

Ross

 Sperry Boat Shoes- $40
A lot of people my age have these, so I wanted to try them out but the originals are $60 and I think that’s a lot to pay for a pair of shoes. So I saw these in Ross and I tried them on. These are so comfortable and they’re nice for walking. I knew that even at $40, it would be worth it.

Blue and White Patterned Pants- $8
These are so cool and boho-looking! When I first saw these, I was skeptical about them because I thought that I might not wear them. But once I felt them, I knew I had to get them. These are super soft, and when you wear them it’s like you’re wearing pajama pants all day. Also, these pants do not overheat you so you can wear them even on hot summer days.

Blue and white “we live by the sun, we feel by the moon” tank top-$12
I mainly got this tank top to match the pants above since I don’t really have anything that matches them. But this is a very cute tank top so I know I can wear it with other things.

Black tie-back crochet bottom tank top- $10
This is a nice, kind of thin tank top that is great for summer. I wouldn’t normally wear dark colors in the summer time but I thought the crochet detailing at the bottom of this was super pretty.

 Black crop top- $6
This is just a simple black crop top. I needed one of these since I don’t have very many plain-colored shirts and I wanted something like this to wear with the skirts I have. Plus the fabric of this is soft and thin so I won’t get overheated in the summer.

Pink sheer scalloped tank top- $10
When I first saw this, I loved the color of it but I wasn’t really looking for anything like this. Then I saw the scalloped details on the bottom and back, and I am obsessed. I don’t know why, but I think scalloping looks really cool.

Black and Bronze Patterned Pants- $6

I mainly got these because I loved the blue and white pants so much. (Same with the next pair of pants) But the color scheme of this is cool looking, plus I love the pattern.

Navy and Dark Pink Patterned Pants- $6
I really like the colors in these pants too, and the stripes are cool.

TJ Maxx

Black Large Flower Lace Skirt- $15

I got this skirt because I don’t have any skirts that I can wear to more formal events, and I don’t want to wear dresses all the time or to have to wear black pants during the summer time.

Blue Bodycon Skirt- $7

This was kind of an impulse buy for me, but I love this blue color. Also I think this looks very vintage and 80’s inspired and the 80’s is one of my favorite decades.

 Black sheer cutout shirt- $13
This shirt has sheer sleeves, and a slight sheer v-neck, as well as a sheer stripe at the bottom. I really like types of clothing with interesting features like this.

 Heathered Gray Oversized T-Shirt- $7

I mainly got this so I would have something to match with the blue skirt, but I think this would look cute on a more casual day too.

Kohl’s

Black Caged Back Bralette- $10

I love bralettes this time of year. I think they look cute under sheer tops or tops with thin straps that you can’t wear a normal bra with. Also, I think the back detail on this bralette is so cool looking.

 Black-trimmed gray t-shirt- $5
Like I said before, I need more simple shirts, so I grabbed this one because it was cheap, and I wear these colors often.

Kmart

Tropical Hawaii Crop Top- $15

I stopped in Kmart really quickly, so this is the only thing I got. I had seen this previously, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted it. But this time, since I am obsessed with tropical prints, I had to get it. Also, I think it looks like something you would see on Tumblr.

That’s all for this haul! I hope you guys enjoyed it. Comment down below if you guys would like a part two to this summer haul. See you next time!

DIY: CD Mosaic Box

Hi everybody! Today I felt like doing a craft today, and I made an awesome CD mosaic box so I’m going to show you how to make it. Let’s get started!
What you will need:

  • Some CDs, about 5 for a smaller box and about 10 for a bigger box
  • A hot glue gun
  • Some heavy duty scissors
  • A plain box

Some things to know before you start:

  • Make sure you use heavy duty scissors so the CDs don’t destroy yours
  • CDs are made of two layers, so cut carefully. And if the layers split, it looks cool if you use the holographic-looking one
  • The smaller and/or thinner the pieces, the more likely they are to split
  • It’s better to start gluing on the lid first, then working your way around to the sides

Step 1: Using your scissors, cut a section out of the CD like in the picture below. Then cut the sections into smaller pieces of various sizes in different shapes like triangles, and four-sided shapes.

Step 2: Lay out and glue down a piece with your hot glue gun. Continue doing this, first laying out pieces to see how it will look, then gluing them down.

Step 3: Repeat step 2 until the whole box is covered. Leave the box out for a few hours to dry, then fill it with something for stylish storage.

And you are done! This is super easy, and it doesn’t take a very long time, so it’s a great activity for a summer day. (This took me about an hour and a half) I love how the CDs make this box have a holographic effect. I think this is a really cute thing to have in your room. I enjoyed doing this DIY, and I hope you guys will try it out. See you guys next time!

My Summer Essentials 🌴☀️🐚

Hello everybody! Today I wanted to show and tell you guys what my summer essentials are. I will be showing things that I use all of the time during the summer. I hope I can inspire you guys!
Beauty/Health

Flash Tattoos

These  temporary metallic tattoos were super trendy last summer and they’re still in style now. I got these free from Dillard’s with my purchase of a formal dress shown in my last post. It came with some that look like bracelets, and some with symbols or little designs. I think these look so cool and I’ll definitely be wearing them all summer.

Garnier Fructis Miracle Dry Oil- Target, $3-5

I purchased this product last year, just to try it out and I love it. If you’re outside most of the summer, and your skin and/or hair gets really dry because of all the sun, this will really help to moisturize you. I think this is better to use on hair, and when you use it, never use more than 2 sprays or your hair will look greasy.

Lotion

French Lavender and Honey Lotion- Bath and Body Works, $5

Lotion is important in the summer because, like I said before, skin gets super dry from the sun and lotion will help to moisturize it. Plus Bath and Body Works has the most amazing scents in the summer.

Waterproof Mascara

Covergirl Waterproof Lash Blast Volume Mascara- CVS Pharmacy, $5-8

I live near Busch Gardens and Water Country, so my family usually gets a year-long pass and we got to both places often during the summer. Now, I want to have long, full eyelashes all of the time, so this helps to keep me looking great even if I get soaking wet. However, this mascara lengthens and makes it look like I have more eyelashes, but it doesn’t thicken them much so I usually wear two coats.

Benadryl Itch Cooling Gel-  Walmart, $3

I’m the type of person who tends to sunburn more than tan, even after applying sunscreen. This product is a lifesaver for me because it cools my veins and makes them less itchy. Plus it helps to make mosquito bites less itchy.

SPF 15 Sunscreen- CVS, $2

Like I said before, I don’t tan much,  but if I use a lower SPF I can probably get a bit of a tan even if I get a sunburn.

Fashion

Crop Tops

From Left to Right: Blue Tie-Dye Crop Top- Kohls: $5 on sale, Floral Strappy-Back Crop Top- Pacsun: $12, Strawberry Crop Top- Macy’s: $20, Scoop-Neck Floral Crop Top- Pacsun: $12

I feel like crop tops are the one summer clothing item that you see all the time. I have a lot of crop tops, and I love wearing them.

Entertainment

Something to read

Teen Vogue June/July 2015

I love reading, and it’s something that I do all the time who I’m not  on electronics. Teen Vogue is a great magazine that gives good fashion advice. Another good fashion magazine is Seventeen.

A Speaker

Tiger Speaker- Christmas Present

Whether I’m having a party, or I’m alone in my room, a speaker is nice when you want your music louder and clearer sounding.
