Extraordinary Means by Robyn Schneider
Summary:

At seventeen, Lane finds himself at Latham House, a sanatorium for teens suffering from an incurable strain of tuberculosis. Part hospital and part boarding school, Latham is a place of endless rules and confusing rituals, where it’s easier to fail breakfast than it is to flunk French. There Lane encounters a girl he knew years ago. Instead of the shy loner he remembers, Sadie has transformed. At Latham, she is sarcastic, fearless, and utterly compelling. Her friends, a group of eccentric troublemakers, fascinate Lane, who has never stepped out of bounds his whole life. And as he gradually becomes one of them, Sadie shows him their secrets: how to steal internet, how to sneak into town, and how to disable the med sensors they must wear at all times. But there are consequences to having secrets, particularly at Latham House. And as Lane and Sadie begin to fall in love and their group begins to fall sicker, their insular world threatens to come crashing down.

Beauty/Makeup:

 Seacret Facial Products:

I actually bought these products last year around this time, but my blog didn’t exist then so I thought I would review this for you guys. I bought these at a kiosk sort of thing in the mall. The salesperson said that it would help with my acne and i tried the products and they worked. It actually costed quite a lot, around $200, and I just want to say that it’s not worth that much. It’s doesn’t really help to get rid of acne, however I still use then for their real use.

The first product I want to review is the skin peeling gel. (Picture at the bottom) This product works really well. You take a little bit on your finger and rub it on your face, and it takes off your dead skin. This is especially great in the winter and fall when skin gets dry and flaky. I love using this, but it should only be used once a week.

The next product is the purifying peeling milk. (First picture) This has a nice, creamy texture with apricot seeds in it. This is to be applied after the peeling gel. It is really nice to exfoliate my face and get extra dead skin off.

The last product is the moisturizer. I feel that this is a nice, refreshing moisturizer, but it’s pretty standard and you could get a moisturizer of equal standards at a drug store.

Maybelline New York Blushed Nudes Palette

I’ve seen this in magazines, and thought it was really pretty so I thought I should try it out. I’m very glad I got it. The colors are shimmery and subtle, great for an everyday look. I would probably wear these in spring or fall. The colors are not very pigmented, so you must apply it multiple times to achieve the full color. One thing I like about this is that on the back, it has quads, trios, and duos of eyeshadows to create different looks. Also, I like that it is a product you can find in a drugstore, and it’s relatively cheap.
Others:

Color me calm meditative coloring book: Barnes and Noble, $17

This is a coloring book for adults. It’s great for me because I still like to color but most coloring books are for children. This one is nice because it calms you down. It has 6 sections, (example photos shown above) so you can have variety in what you color. The sections are: Mandalas, water scenes, wooded scenes, geometric patterns, floral and fauna, and natural patterns. I think the illustrations are beautiful and they look even better when they are colored. This book is also great if you need something to do when you’re driving somewhere for vacation. There are more of these books that are for other things than calming, and I wanted to get them but I didn’t have enough money.
That’s all for today’s post. I hope you guys enjoyed it, and see you next time!

  • Psych Major Syndrome by Alicia Thompson

Summary:

The patient, Leigh Nolan (that would be me), has just started her first year at Stiles College. She has decided to major in psychology (even though her parents would rather she study tarot cards, not Rorschach blots). Patient has always been very good at helping her friends with their problems, but when it comes to her own… not so much. Patient has a tendency to over analyze things, particularly when the opposite sex is involved. Like why doesn’t Andrew, her boyfriend of over a year, ever invite her to spend the night? Or why can’t she commit to taking the next step in their relationship? And why does his roommate, Nathan, dislike her so much? More importantly, why did Nathan have a starring role in a much-more-than-friendly dream? Aggravating factors include hyper-competitive fellow psych majors, a professor who is badly in need of her own psychoanalysis, and a middle-school-age mentee who thinks Patient is, in a word, naive.

  • Beautiful Lies by Jessica Warman

Summary:

No one can tell Alice and Rachel apart. But the twin sisters’ connection goes beyond their genetic similarities: when one is physically injured, the wound also shows up on the other twin’s body, no matter how far apart they may be. Sometimes, it even feels like they are the same person, split between two bodies. So when one twin mysteriously disappears, the other instantly feels it- especially when bruises and gashes inexplicably start appearing on her body. As the search to find her sister begins, the twin left behind must use their unique bond to uncover the truth behind the disappearance. But the deeper she digs into her sister’s life, the more she realizes that they haven’t shared everything with each other- and those secrets may ultimately sever their bond, and their lives, forever.

  • Kill you last by Todd Strasser

Summary:

Shelby never imagined that her family would be the subject of a police investigation, but that’s what happens when three teenage clients of her fashion photographer father go missing. Shelby’s seemingly perfect life of hot sports cars, travel, and unlimited shopping trips crumbles when her dad is named a prime suspect in the girls’ disappearance. Caught in the middle of the investigation, Shelby struggles to avoid the prying paparazzi, deal with threatening e-mails, and tolerate the hateful stares she gets at school. Meanwhile, the unanswered questions multiply. What’s the connection between the missing girls and her father? Is he as innocent as he claims? Does the great-looking guy who works with her dad have anything to do with the threatening e-mails she’s been receiving? As one shocking revelation follows another, Shelby discovers she must face the truth about who the most important people are in her life really are… and aren’t.

Beauty/Health

Secret Clear Geo Deodorant in pasion de mango

I got this because my previous deodorant got powdery and left white marks after a while, and I love this one! The gel is cool and smells amazing. It also does not leave white marks since it’s clear gel.

 Magnifying Mirror- Kohls, $6

I got this mirror so I can see my face better when I’m applying my makeup. I didn’t know it was magnifying until after I bought it, but that makes it even better. It’s great if yore trying to get the perfect eyeliner line and you want to see what you’re doing better.

Elf Sunkissed Glow Bronzer: Target, $2

I got this because I needed more bronzer, and I am in love with this one. It’s a very flattering color, and it’s fairly easy to apply and blend for a fresh summer look.

Elf Contouring Kabuki Brush: Target, $6

I got this because the brush I was using to apply bronzer to my cheek area wasn’t the right type. This one works wonderfully. It’s a bit big, but it’s the perfect size to contour my cheeks.

Revlon Photoready Concealer Stick, Target, $8

This concealer is great for me in the summertime because it gives bey light coverage, so it’s easy to layer more if needed, and it doesn’t feel heavy or cakey on your face. Also, this is a kind of large stick, so it might be a bit tough to get it into a smaller area but it’s worth it.

Others

Nike Supportive Flip Flops: Kohls, $10

These are great for the summertime, if you’re walking around a lot but don’t want to wear heavy tennis shoes that get all sweaty. It’s also great for vacation if you go to the beach or someplace like that, and you’re walking around a lot.

3DS Game: Tomodachi Life

This is a easygoing game that anyone can play. Basically, you are on a little island community where you can move in miis of your family, friends, and even celebrities or characters from other media. Everyone interacts and people can become best friends, start dating, and even get married and have children. This game is really easy and a fun way to pass the time. If you’re still not sure about this, but think it might be cool, I suggest checking out swimmingbird941’s series on this game. It’s very entertaining.
And that’s all of my June Favorites! But before I go, please check out a fellow blogger and friend’s blog. She posts very similar things to me if you like this sort of thing.

Here is a link to her blog:

That’s all for today! I hope you enjoyed this post, and see you next time!

Books

If Had Been With Me by Laura Nowlen
Summary:

If he had been with me everything would have been different…

I wasn’t with Finn on that August night. But I should’ve been. It was raining, of course. And he and Sylvie were arguing as he drove down the slick road. No one ever says what they were arguing about. Other people think it’s not important. They do not know there is another story. The story that lurks between the facts. What they do not know- the cause of the argument- is crucial. So let me tell you…

The Angel of Death by Alane Ferguson

Summary:

Cameryn took a sharp breath, then pushed through the doorway.  In the corner of the room stood an oak sleigh bed, and in the middle of the bed were the remains of Mr. Oakes. His limbs were at odd angles, like gnarled branches of trees, the legs contracted so tight his knees made steeples beneath the cotton sheet. She could see the tip of his tongue protruding. It was a strange color, a dark gray, extending beyond his lips, a shriveled turtle’s  head of a tongue peeking from the edge of his mouth. But that wasn’t the horror of it. When her mind finally registered the picture, she wished, in that instant, that she’d listened to Sheriff Jacobs. Because she was looking down at a face that was no longer there. A mask, like that from a horror show, replaced the face that she had known. Skin, no longer smooth like her teacher had worn in life, had now withered to the bones. Blood seeped down his teeth like painted lashes. But the worst was his eyes. The lids of his eyes had rolled back like window shades, revealing two dark holes. The eye sockets were empty.

Splintered by A.G. Howard

Summary:

Alyssa Gardner hears the thoughts of plants and animals. She hides her delusions for now, but she knows her fate: she will end up like her mother, in an institution. Madness has run in her family ever since her great-great-great-grandmother Alice Liddell told Lewis Carroll her strange dreams, inspiring his classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. But perhaps she’s not mad. And perhaps Caroll’s stories aren’t as whimsical as they first seem. To break the curse of insanity, Alyssa must go down the rabbit hole and right the wrongs of Wonderland, a place full of strange things with dark agendas. Alyssa brings her real-world crush-the protective Jeb-with her, but once her journey begins, she’s torn between his solidity and the enchanting, dangerous magic of Morpheus, her guide to Wonderland. But no one in Wonderland is who they seem to be-not even Alyssa herself…

An App called Remix by Polyvore

iTunes download link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/polyvore-remix-outfits-styling/id954637569?mt=8

This app is amazing! It’s a free app that helps you make and discover outfits. It shows daily trends and when you select one, you can then select an item from that category, and the app will generate an outfit for you. You can like the outfits, or press remix for some more. If you like an outfit, it will be saved so you can look at it later. This is great for me because if I find an item of clothing that is similar to what I have, I can remix outfits and get more inspiration for outfits with that clothing item. I use this app almost daily, and you guys would too if you would get it.
That’s all for my May Favorites! I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and see you next time!

Books

Girl Online by Zoe Sugg

This book is by one of my favorite YouTubers, Zoella, so I wanted to check it out. It turned out to be way better than I thought it would be. I would recommend this book to someone who likes romances and dramas.

Summary: Penny has a secret. Under the alias Girl Online, Penny blogs her hidden feelings about friendship, boys, high school drama, her quirky family, and the panic attacks that have begun to take over her life. When things go from bad to worse at school, her parents accept an opportunity to whisk the family away for Christmas at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. There, Penny meets Noah, a gorgeous, guitar-strumming American. Suddenly she is falling in love- and capturing every moment she shares with “Brooklyn Boy” on her blog. But Noah has a secret too, one that threatens to ruin Penny’s cover- and her closest friendship- forever.
Fang Girl by Helen Keeble

This is a hilarious drama about a girl’s “life” as a newly turned vampire. I wouldn’t normally read this type of book because they tend to be kind of cheesy, but this one was incredibly done. I would recommend this to any Young-Adult reader.
Summary: Sure, the idea of vampires is sexy, but who actually dreams of spending eternity as a pasty, bloodthirsty fifteen- year- old? Not me. Unfortunately, the somewhat psychotic vampire who turned me didn’t bother to ask first. Now I’m dealing with parents who want me to vamp them, a younger brother who’s convinced I’m a zombie, and a seriously ripped vampire hunter who either wants to stake me or make out with me. Not sure which. Oh and PS, none of my favorite fanfic prepared me to deal with vampire politics- which are looking pretty tricky based on the undead Elder trying to hunt me down. What’s a vampire- obsessed fan girl turned real- life fanggirl supposed to do?
Don’t look back by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Thus book is sort of a crime-drama/ mystery which is my favorite type of book. This was very-well written, and I enjoyed it a lot.
Summary: Samantha is a stranger in her own life. Until the night she disappeared with her best friend, Cassie, everyone said Sam had it all- popularity, wealth, and a dream boyfriend. Sam has resurfaced, but she has no recollection of who she was or what happened to her that night. As she tries to piece together her life from before, she realizes it’s one she no longer wants any part of. The old Sam took “mean girl” to a whole new level, and it’s clear she and Cassie were more like best enemies. Sam is pretty sure that losing her memories is like winning the lottery. She’s getting a second chance at being a better daughter, sister, and friend, and she’s falling hard for Carson Ortiz, a boy who has always looked out for her- even when the old Sam treated him like trash. But Cassie is still missing, and the facts about what happened to her that night aren’t just buried deep inside Sam’s memory- someone else knows, someone who wants to make sure Sam stays quiet. All Sam wants is the truth, and if she can unlock her clouded memories of that fateful night, she can finally move on. But what if not remembering is the only thing keeping Sam alive?
Famous last words by Katie Alender

I’ve read one of this author’s books before, and I loved it. I loved this one as well. This is a murder mystery/paranormal mystery. It is upper exciting, and captivating. I would definitely recommend this to people who like mysteries.
Summary: Willa is freaking out. Lately, it seems she’s seeing things. Like a dead body in her swimming pool. Frantic, scribbled messages on her walls. A reflection that is not her own. It’s almost as if someone- or something- is trying to send her a message. Meanwhile, a killer is stalking Los Angeles- a killer who reenacts famous movie murder scenes with his victims: pretty teenage girls. Could Willa’s strange visions have to do with these unsolved murders? And whom can she confide in? There’s Marnie, her new best friend, who may not be totally trustworthy. And there’s Reed, who’s ridiculously handsome and seems to get Willa. There’s also Wyatt, who’s super-smart but unhealthily obsessed with the Hollywood Killer. All Willa knows is, she has to confront the possible ghost in her house, or she just might lose her mind. And if she doesn’t untangle the mystery of the Hollywood Killer… She just might lose her life.
Beauty

Elf eye primer & liner sealer, $3

So far I have only tried the eye primer side, because I’m not sure if I what to make some eyeshadow like liquid eyeliner, but this stuff is amazing. It’s the best eye primer I have ever used. I put this on, then put on eyeshadow yesterday and went to school. When I got home I checked to see if it had worked, and the eyeshadow stayed on for a full 7-8 hours.

Maybelline New York Lipstck in Make Me Pink- $7

I am in love with this lipstick color! It is a mix between purple and pink, which is a perfect shade for spring.

Here is what it looks like on:

Miscellaneous

Floral Bouquet Candle- Target, $3

This candle has such cute packaging! It also has a sweet, subtle flower scent that is great for spring. It’s also perfect for people who don’t like strong or overpowering candles.

I use this planner for organizing my blog posts. I write down what I think I will do for my post on which day so I can keep track of my ideas. I also love how this is for two years, so I can do the same next year.
That’s all for my April Favorites! I hope you guys enjoyed my post, and see you next time!

Books:

Losing Logan by Sherry D. Ficklin

Normally finding a hot guy in her bedroom wouldn’t irritate Zoe so badly, but finding her childhood friend there is a big problem. Mostly because he’s dead. As the only person he can make contact with, he convinces Zoe to help him Put together the pieces surrounding his mysterious death so he can move on. Thrust into his world of ultra popular rich kids, Zoe is out of her element and caught in the crosshairs of Logan’s suspicious ex-girlfriend and the friends he left behind, each of whom had a reason to want him dead. The deeper they dig to find the truth, the closer Zoe gets to a killer who would do anything to protect his secrets. And that’s just the start of her problems because Zoe’s falling for a dead guy.

White Space by Ilsa J. Bick

Emma Lindsay’s got problems: a head full of metal, a crazy artist for a guardian, and these weird blinks- stretches of half-remembered time when her mind seems to bleed into other lives. Then, for class, she writes “White Space,” a story about kids stranded in a spooky house during a blizzard. But this creates one more issue: “White Space” is nearly identical to an unfinished novel about characters who jump off pages into other stories. But she’s never seen that manuscript. No one has since the writer, killed years ago, never completed the book. Which means she’s blinked into the head of a dead guy? Or has she tripped into the nightmare of her own story? Because now Emma is trapped in a bizarre, fog-shrouded valley with other kids who have their own dark secrets and strange abilities. The question then becomes, is she real? Are there others? Or are they just characters who have all fallen between the lines into White Space- and can they escape before someone pens their end?

Movies

Easy A- This movie is a comedy about a high school girl who is pressured to lie to her best friend about losing her virginity to a college guy. Someone overhears, the lie spreads, and everything spirals out of control.

It’s kind of a funny story- This movie is a comedy about a suicidal teenager who admits himself to a mental hospital. It shows his journey through working through his depression, and getting out of the hospital.

Television:

Finding Carter- This is a teen drama show on MTV about a girl who finds out that her mother is not her mother and kidnapped her when she was three. She goes to live with her real family, but has a hard time thinking of them as that.

Faced with a future of never aging, never being seen or heard or touched, Anna turns to Rei for help. Now the two of them not only have to get Anna back into her body, but they also have to stop Taylor from accusing an innocent friend being responsible for murder. Together Rei and Anna form a plan, but it doesn’t take into account the deeper feelings that are beginning to grow between them.

The Sims 4 computer game- $60

This game is pretty expensive, but it is definitely worth is! I would recommend this to anyone. One thing I really like about this is that you can download custom content, which is user-created objects, clothing , hairstyles, and more, for free. This book is probably one of my favorite books ever. It is just amazing. It’s about this girl, Pia, who is the first immortal human being ever and she takes a series of tests to determine if she can become a part of the Immortis team, which is the group of scientists that created her. One day Pia finds a hole in the fence surrounding her home and when she goes through it she meets a local villager, Eio. Together they discover the truth about her past and eventually Pia has to decide between staying with those who raised her or running away with the boy she loves.

Beauty kit: Ulta, $20
I got this for my birthday this year, and let me just say, this is the best beauty thing ever. It has an assortment of brushes, pencil eyeliner, brow filler, eyeshadow, blush, setting powder, lipstick, gel eyeliner, wax, lip primer, highlighter, concealer, and more! This is great if you need to do your makeup quickly because you won’t have to search through your makeup bag for what you need. Plus there are so many makeup looks you could create with this! Ever since getting this, I literally wake up in the morning more exciting for my day and more inspired to try new makeup looks for school. I strongly advise to put this on your Christmas list or buy it yourself!

Covet fashion: free (in most app stores)
This is my most favorite game ever! I have been playing this for a little over a year now and I’m still in love with it. In this game, you can buy clothes and enter fashion events wearing the clothes. You need tickets to enter the fashion events, and you get those by voting on other people’s looks for events. When you enter events, you are given money so you can buy more clothing. This game is kind of hard to explain, and it sounds a bit boring form my description, but I promise you it is amazing. Just try it out.
