Get Ready With Me: School Semi-Formal Dance

Hi Everyone! Yesterday was my school’s semi-formal dance, which was super fun! So today I wanted to show you guys my outfit and hair, and tell you how to do my hairstyle. Let’s get right into it!

Outfit:

Navy Blue Lace Jeweled Bodycon Dress- Dillard’s, $90 on sale

Silver Glittery kitten heels- Payless, $25

Hairstyle:

This hairstyle is a French Fishtail Braid twisted into a side bun.

Step 1: Comb your hair back.

Step 2: Grab a section of hair at the right side of your head and split it into two sections.

Step 3: Start it like a regular fishtail braid with only one rotation. If you need help, here is a link to an earlier post that can help you:

https://nicolefemme2000.wordpress.com/2015/01/14/5-cute-quick-and-easy-hairstyles-for-school/

Step 3: Start taking an outside section of hair and adding more hair to it, then crossing it over to the inside of the other section.

Step 4: Continue doing this across to the left side of your head.

Step 5: When there is no mor hesitate to add to it, braid like a regular fishtail braid all the way down.

Step 6: Secure with a hair elastic that matches your hair color, then twist it in a bun shape.

Step 7: Secure the bun with lots of bobby pins, hiding the end of the braid in the middle, and cover it with jeweled bobby pins if you would like.
And you’re done! This hairstyle is moderately easy, but time consuming. But the time spent is wort it because it looks elaborate and professional. I am super proud of this hairstyle, and I hope you guys try it out.

That’s all for today’s post! I hope you guys enjoyed it, and see you next time.

5 Summer Outfits ☀️🌞

Hey guys! Today I wanted to show you guys 5 outfits you can wear this summer, since May is almost over. I hope this post will inspire you.
Outfit 1:

‘We live by the sun, we feel by the moon’ tank top- Ross, $8

Soft Blue and White Patterned Pants- Ross, $8

Nude and Blue color blocked flats- Kohls, $15
This outfit is for a cooler summer day, because of the pants. These pants are super soft, to the point where it’s like you’re walking around in pajama pants all day. And even though they’re pants, they aren’t warm or hot, so you can still wear them during summertime.

Outfit 2:

Black Crop Top- Ross, $6

Studded Floral Skater Skirt- Sears, $15

Black Studded Gladiator Sandals- Steinmart, $25
This outfit is the perfect blend of edginess and girly. I love how the studded details make the floral print look a little less feminine.  Also, even though this crop top is black, it’s pretty thin so it can keep you a little cool.

Outfit 3:

Tropical Lace-trimmed Bralette- Kohls, $10

Black Embroidered Mesh Kimono- Charlotte Russe, $5 on sale

Black High-waisted Crochet Shorts- Ross, $15

Black Vans- Kohls, $50
I think this outfit has sort of a boho-urban vibe with all of these textures and the black color. I think the kimono adds a really cool touch to this outfit while not overheating you.

Outfit 4:

Black floral Bow-back Tank Top-  Rue 21, $15

Pink Paisley Skater Skirt- Aeropostale, $6 on sale

Black Bow Flats- Charming Charlie’s, $17
This outfit is a bit more dressy than the others, but it’s still super cute. It is also a little more girly, with the floral prints and bows.

Outfit 5:

Blue High-Necked tie dye Crop Top- Kohls, $5 on sale

White Scalloped High-waisted Shorts- TJ Maxx, $15

Shoes- Same as first outfit
In my opinion, this outfit practically screams summer. The color scheme reminds me of the ocean, and this is the type of outfit I see on Instagram and Pinterest all the time around summertime.

Those are all of my summer outfits. I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and see you next time!

OOTD: Eating in With Family

Hi everybody! Today I wanted to show you guys my outfit that I wore on Sunday. We were celebrating my grandma’s birthday and we ordered Italian food then went to my great-grandma’s house.

Sheer Cream Paisley Shoulder-Cutout Dress with Slip- Ross, $20

Brown Lace-Up Wedge Sandals- Dressbarn, $35
This is a more boho-chic casual-dressy look that I am super proud of, and I think it’s super cute. I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and see you next time!

8 Runway Trends You Need to Try this Spring

Hello everyone! Today I wanted to show you guys some stylish looks from the spring 2015 runway. I hope these styles will inspire you and that you will try them out.
#1: Gladiator Sandals

I love these sandals. They are a great way to add a bit of edge to a girly outfit on a hot day. I have a short pair of them because I’m not brave enough to wear the knee-high ones. I have seen these a lot and I know that this is one of the top trends this season.
 Alexander McQueen Spring 2015

  Chloé Spring 2015

Valentino Spring 2015

#2: Metallic Sandals

These are great statement shoes! They’re relaxed and casual enough for hot spring days, yet shiny and metallic like jewelry so you can dress up or dress down an outfit.

Peter Som Spring 2015
  Just Cavalli Spring 2015

#3: Platform Sandals

These shoes tend to be a more modern, sporty look which I don’t wear much but for some reason, I am infatuated with them. They also are usually super comfortable, even if they don’t look like it.

Creatures of the Wind Spring 2015

Derek Lam Spring 2015

#4: Bold Tropicals and Florals

Everybody knows that floral print is pretty much the epitome of spring fashion. But now tropical prints are in style, and I am obsessed! It is currently my favorite clothing pattern and I think it adds a cute vibe to any outfit.

Osklen Spring 2015

Michael Kors Spring 2015

#5: Bucket Bags

I am also obsessed with bucket bags. I think they are dually cute and functional. I don’t currently have one, but I am saving up since I love them so much.

Ralph Lauren Spring 2015

Tony Burch Spring 2015

#6: Gingham Print

To be honest, I’m personally not a big fan of gingham, but it is all over the place in magazines and on the runway. This is a huge trend for this season, and I would recommend for you to try it out if you like it.

Oscar de la Renta Spring 2015
  Diane Von Furstenberg Spring 2015

#8: Bright Little Duffel Bags

These are some bright, boldly colored bags that can hold everything you need. They are a medium-sized bag, and perfect for toting around on a day out.

Fendi Spring 2015

Moschino Spring 2015

#8: 70’s inspired fringe

As most of you all probably know, the 70’s are back, and fringe is a perfect way to make your outfit more boho.  I don’t wear fringe much, but I will try more since it’s so popular on the runways.

Proenza Schouler Spring 2015

Alberta Ferretti Spring 2015

Those are all of the prominent runway trends this season. I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and see you next time!

How to Mix Patterns, Prints, and Textures for an Outfit

Hi everybody! Today I wanted to show & tell you guys how to mix patterns. I know some people are afraid to do this in case it looks too bold for them, but I want to help you if you are that kind of person. Even if you don’t particularly need help with this, it could still give you potential outfit ideas. So let’s get right into this post!

(These pictures included are just examples I found on Pinterest, they’re not actually me)
1. Patterns using the same color

All of these outfits have a similar color or colors in them to help balance out the boldness of the outfits.
2. Use colors in the same color family. For example, if your main outfit focus is mostly blue, you should use colors in the cool family (more blue, green, purple, blue-grays, etc)

3. Use the same pattern in two clothing items, either of different sizes of pattern, or inverted colors, or going in a different direction (for instance, vertical stripes+ horizontal stripes)

4. Mix patterns that have contrasting colors (black+white, red+green, orange +blue, yellow+purple)

5. Mix patterns with a similar shape to them (geometrical patterns like stripes, plaid, etc. go super well together.)

6. If you get really good at mixing prints, you can try to add completely different patterns together. Sometimes this looks amazing.

That’s all for today’s post! I hope you guys enjoyed it, and see you next time!
