Trying Foreign Sweets

Hey guys! I haven’t posted for a very long time and I’m sorry about that.  😦  I didn’t know it would take so long to make today’s blog post and get it ready, so I apologize for that. Today I’m doing something a little different. I earned some money and bought a variety of different foreign sweets and candies  from World Market to try. Let’s get started with the reviews!

1) Orange and Chocolate Spread from Holland, $4

My Opinion- This was very good! It was sort of like a higher-quality Nutella with orange flavor. I think it would make a good spread on just some toasted bread if you’re looking for something sweet.

2) Vincenzi Minivoglie Cookies from Italy (assorted pack), $4

My Opinion- For some reason, I thought that since these were Italian and not American that they would be higher quality tasting, but they weren’t that amazing. Most of the cookies were just average or ok tasting, but I really loved the filled ones.

3) Botan Rice Candy from Asia (I believe it’s from Japan but I’m not entirely sure), $1.50

This candy comes in an incredibly small box, with about 6 small candies included. There is an outer wrapper that you can peel off to reveal some rice paper around the candy. You eat the rice paper by letting it dissolve in your mouth, and then eat the candy. In my opinion, this Andy is pretty good but some might not like it because it has sort of a bubblegum flavored medicine sort of taste. (And I hated that bubblegum flavored kids’ medicine , but for some reason I like this candy. I guess it feels nostalgic in a way. )

4) Every Burger Cookies from Asia, $3

My Opinion- I couldn’t read this package because it looks like it’s all in Chinese or Japanese, so I thought these would be like little gummies or something. But when I opened the package, I saw that they’re little cookies. They tasted alright. They seem like a little cheap treat you would buy if you feel like having chocolate .

5) Kasugai Lychee Gummies from Asia, $4

I got these because I wanted to try something a bit more unique. I had no idea what a lychee tasted like, but I have a friend who went to China and he said that they tasted good. There were a lot in this bag, so I shared with some friends at school. I, personally, really liked his. It was a very good gummy, but the flavor is incredibly hard to explain. I found that from everyone who tried it, they either loved it or hated it, so this would be a nice thing to try but only if you don’t mind wasting a few dollars.

6) Droste Milk Pastilles from Holland, $2

My Opinion: When I bought this I thought that these would be like chocolate cookies or something similar. But when I tried these, I discovered that they’re just plain milk chocolate. They’re pretty good, and I was surprised to find how cheap they were.

7) Regina Pineapple Chocolate Bar from Portugal, $3

My Opinion- So I got this for something a bit unique and stranger than everything else. I thought that it would be a pineapple filled chocolate bar, but it turned out to be just pineapple flavored chocolate. At first, I just tasted the chocolate and it was delicious, then all of a sudden the pineapple flavor hit. I could kind of taste pineapple, but at the same time I was getting a bizarre banana taste. So I didn’t really like this much because the fruit flavors tasted incredibly artificial.

8) Ritter Sport Strawberry Creme Chocolate Bar from Germany, $2.80

My Opinion- This is one of the best chocolate bars I’ve ever had. The chocolate tastes super high-quality, and the strawberry creme tastes natural and delicious. I almost couldn’t believe this tasted so good with such a low price. This is something I would definitely recommend to everyone.
9) Kinder Bueno Chocolate (3 pack) from Italy, $5

My Opinion- This was the best thing I tried, so I saved it for last. On the outside, there is some yummy milk chocolate. Underneath that, there is a layer of crunch with some vanilla hazelnut cream inside. This is a pretty simple chocolate, but the flavors are outstanding. I would buy this all the time if I could, because that’s how good it tastes.

That’s all for today’s post. I hope you guys enjoyed it, and see you next time!

Pinterest: Popular Halloween Makeup Ideas

Hello everyone! Today I wanted to share with you some popular Pinterest makeup ideas for Halloween. Some of these are a little more complex than others, but others can be easily created with already owned makeup. This post will hopefully help you guys if you’re trying to figure out a costume in the short time we when since Halloween is on Saturday. Most of these are easy to match outfits with with already owned clothing. Also, I have an exciting new type do pair planned for next week or the week after that hopefully, so stay tuned for that! Now let’s get started! Disclaimer- none of these photos are owned by me, I found them all on Pinterest so I’m not taking credit for them.

1- Doe/Deer

The doe is a very popular makeup look for those who are looking for something a little more cute and less creepy. It’s also very easy to create- you just need white eyeshadow, black eyeliner, brown eyeshadow and or bronzer, black lipstick if you would like and you could add or take away what ever you wanted. This is also a thing very easy to match clothes with, you could wear a brown dress or top and pants.

2- Sugar Skull

The sugar skull is probably the most trendy look I found. Even my art teacher said she is going to be a sugar skull for Halloween.  This is another easy look to create. These stick with the same general  design, just with different colors. You really only need white Halloween makeup as a base, and eyeliner and maybe another color eyeliner or eyeshadow or even Halloween makeup to make the designs in other colors.

3- Creepy Dolls

This is a more girly look, but it looks very creepy at the same time. To make this look, you just need to make your eyes look overly large,  and add a pink lipstick and some blush. You can also add cracks with black eyeliner if you want to be a broken doll.

4- Comic Book Character

This is definitely a more time consuming look. It is pretty simple though. You just outline parts of you face and collarbone in black eyeliner, and create white dots on your face with white face paint. Then you can make tears beneath your eyes if you’d like. Next put red lipstick on your lips and create a white highlight.

5- Clown

I, personally, think clowns are scary so these looks are the scariest ones in this post to me. This one is also pretty easy. Apply black eyeshadow ok your eyelids and make it drape down into a line to your cheeks. Then make a red dot on your nose. Next put on red lipstick on your lips and extend the lines so it goes out to your clementines and outline it in black.

That’s all for today’s post. I hope you guys enjoyed it, and see you next time!

Books

The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness

This book is the first book in a trilogy. I haven’t read the other two yet, but this is a really good one so if you’re looking for a new book series then this one is great.

Summary:

Todd Hewitt is the last boy in Prentisstown. But Prentisstown isn’t like other towns. Everyone can hear everyone else’s thoughts in an overwhelming, never-ending stream of Noise. There is no quiet, no privacy, no room for secrets. Or is there? Just a month away from the birthday that will make him a man, Todd and his dog, Manchee- whose thoughts Todd can hear, too, whether he wants to or not- stumble upon an area of complete silence. Which is impossible. Prentisstown has been hiding something from him, a secret so awful that Todd and Manchee are suddenly running for their lives. But how can you flee when your pursuers can hear your every thought? And where can you run when there’s nowhere to go?

Undertow by Michael Buckley

Summary:

Lyric Walker’s life forever changes the night she witnesses the arrival of the Alpha, or First Men. The world’s initial wonder and awe over the new race quickly turn into paranoia and fear, transforming her hometown of Coney Island into a military zone with violence bubbling just beneath the surface. Despite her best efforts, Luric is thrust into the middle of this clash of civilizations when the Alpha teenagers are forced into her high school and she is recruited to help their crown prince, a battle-scarred boy named Fathom, adjust to life as an American teenager. Fathom is full of anger, and violence follows him everywhere, yet she finds herself drawn to him.  Their love, however, is a dangerous one, with forces on both sides working to keep them apart, and it threatens to expose a shocking secret Lyric and her family have been keeping since she was a baby. And while the world sees the Alpha as an invading army, Lyric discovers that they are in fact humanity’s only hope of survival, because there’s something much more terrifying than the Alpha. And it’s on it’s way.

Beauty

Nyx Super Skinny Eye Marker: CVS Pharmacy, $3

I got his because I was running out black eyeliner. This was pretty cheap, so I thought I would try it out. I absolutely love this! This is super easy to apply and even make wings with. You can just draw it on! Previously I had used a liquid eyeliner with a felt tip applicator and a bottle but it was hard to draw a straight line and make a wing if I wanted to.

Others

Marshmallow Fireside Mini Candle: Bath and Body Works, $4.50

I normally don’t like sugary-type scents, but the vanilla marshmallow smell is prefect with the hint of a warm fire smell. This candle is the embodiment of roasting marshmallows, which makes it a perfect fall smell.

Creatures Great and Small Coloring Book: Michaels, $20

This is a really cool coloring book. It’s sort of like a field guide book. On one side is the drawing that you color in and on the other side of the paper is information about the animals so you can color them correctly and learn at the same time.

That’s all for today’s post. I hope you guys enjoyed it, and see you next time!

Get Ready With Me: Homecoming 2015

Hey guys! Last night was my school’s homecoming dance, so I thought I would show you my dress and how I did my hair and makeup. Let’s get started!

Dress- Papaya, $27

Shoes- Charming Charlie’s, $17

I went shopping for a dress last weekend. I was looking for something that was cheap and cute, and that I could wear more than once. The theme for my dance was A Night in the City, and I thought that this dress matched the theme perfectly.

Hair

First I started off by spraying my hair with some heat protectant spray. I then clipped up my two top layers of hair. Next I curled the layers using my Remington Curling Wand (Target, $25). I started at the roots and curled from the middle of the wand to the smaller end. I then re-curled my ends, and sprayed it again with heat protectant spray to keep the curls in for longer.

Makeup

First I applied a matte primer to my face and primed my eyelids. Next I put on my foundation and concealer. Then I used an elf eyeshadow palette (Target, $6) and I applied a shimmery champagne shade all over my lids, up to my eyebrows. Then I applied a shimmery gold shade over my lids. Next I took a matte black shade and blended it at the outer corners of my eyelids.

After that, I used my Nyx Super Skinny Eye Marker (eyeliner) in Carbon Black and drew a medium sized line, adding a flick at the end to make a cat eye.

Next, I applied a medium shade of pink blush to my cheeks to give my face a bit more color.  I then put on my Burt’s Bees Lip Color in Redwood Forest (CVS Pharmacy, $8)

And that completes the look! I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and see you next time!

DIY Fall Leaf Garland

Hey guys! Fall is my favorite season, so I decided to give my room a bit of change to make it more fall-themed. I hope you guys enjoy this tutorial, and let’s get started!

What you will need:

  • Twine or some type of strong string
  • Cutable wire
  • Heavy Duty Scissors
  • Fake Autumn Leaves
  • Hammer and Nails (optional)

Step 1: Measure how much twine you want to across a wall. You can either tie it between objects already on your wall, or hammer in some nails and tie it around the nails so it’s stretched out.

Step 2: Cut about 1-2 inch pieces of wire.

Step 3: Push the wire through the leaf near the stem part

Step 4: Push the ends of the wire up to make sort of a half circle shape.

Step 5: Hold the lead up to the twine, and twist the ends of the wire together around the twine. Then tuck the ends in the loop made to make it look neater. (You may want some type of jewelry plier to do this because it can be difficult.)

Step 6: Complete steps 2-5 with each leaf until they’re equally spread out on your garland.

And you’re done! This is super easy and not very time consuming. This is a nice way to make your room look great for fall. I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and see you next time!

elf Pointed Foundation Brush- CVS Pharmacy, $3

Last month I decided to get a foundation brush since I didn’t have one. This was a great choice! It’s extremely cheap, yet the brush is high quality and none of the bristles come out. I found that when using this to apply liquid foundation instead of using my hands, my foundation lasted longer and looked more natural.

IMG_4695

L’Oreal Paris Makeup Setting Spray- CVS Pharmacy, $16

This was sort of pricey for a drugstore product, but I wanted to try something like this because my everyday makeup does not last for my 7-8 hour school days. This is a pretty nice product. I found that when using this, my makeup overall (including eye makeup!) stayed on for a couple more hours than usual, which means my makeup hadn’t slid off at school.

IMG_4700

Maybelline New York Master Glaze Blush Stick in Make a Mauve- CVS Pharmacy,$6

I bought this because I don’t have very much blush, especially ones to wear during fall and winter. I bought the darkest color, thinking that since fall is pretty much here, I need dark colors. That probably wasn’t a very good choice since I’m super pale, but I made it work. When I first applied this, I swept it on, and found that the color was extremely pigmented, so I looked like a clown. Since the color was very dark, it was hard to blend and make look natural on my light skin. Another day, I tried a different method which worked wayyy better for me. I softly took some blush form the stick with a blush brush and applied it onto my face from the brush. This was less noticeable and more natural once I blended it. What I’m trying to say is that this product is very good, but try to pick a color that would go best with your skin tone.

IMG_4732

Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon in Redwood Forest, CVS Pharmacy- $8

I got this because I was looking for a dark red lip color. This was not quite what I had in mind, but I still love it. This is a more subtle red color, still dark, but if you want to reach the shade on the tube, you have to layer it. I am pictured wearing this lip color in the photo below.

Bath and Body Works Flannel candle- Mini- $3.25, Regular size- $20

I love this candle so much. It smells like a very nice men’s cologne, and I am obsessed with the scent. I actually love the scent of men’s cologne and flannel shirts irl, so this is a nice candle for me. It’s also not overpowering, so if you want a fresh, subtle scent, then this is good for you.

That’s all for my September Favorites! I hope you guys liked this post, and see you next time.

Fall 2015 Fashion Trends

Hey guys! So lately, I’ve been noticing a few key items that are very trendy this season on social media. I’d like to share them with you so you have some basic fall essentials. (All pictures were found in either Pinterest, Instagram, or Facebook, they’re not my own) Let’s get started!
Trend #1- Long Tan Coats

I think this is an extremely versatile item. You can wear it during fall and winter, and it’s easy to match with due to its neutral color.

Trend #2- Lace-Up Items

This trend has been everywhere lately! I’ve seen it mostly on loose, float tops and dresses, but it’s also popular with shoes. I think it’s very cute and boho.

Trend #3- Plaid Scarves

Plaid is a very stylish pattern this season, and other than with flannel shirts, it’s been very prominent in scarves. It’s a great way to stay stylish and warm.

Trend #4- Dressing Up Ripped Jeans

Ripped or Distressed Jeans tend to come off as very casual pants, but when done the right way, they can be dressed up for many occasions.

Trend #5- Button Up Skirts

You’ve already seen one of these in one of the other pictures, that’s how popular they are. Depending on the material, these can give off a vintage 70’s or 90’s vibe. I think this is a great way to modernize older fashions. It also looks very pretty.

That’s all for today’s post. I hope you guys enjoyed it, and see you next time!

2 Delicious Salad Recipes

Hi everyone! Today I wanted to tell you how to make 2 yummy salads. These are easy and quick so they’re great for school or work lunches. They’re also a great way to eat healthy, with tasty food. They’re both bey similar, just different variations of the same salad. Let’s get started!
#1

Peaches and Apple Spinach Salad

What you will need:

  • Baby spinach leaves or a half and half mix if you would like
  • 1/2 of a fresh peach, sliced
  • Croutons
  • Panera Bread’s Fugi Apple Vinaigrette Salad Dressing

1- Get a medium-large bowl and fill it 2/3 with your spinach.

2- Slice the peach half if necessary, and add in the slices

3-Add some croutons on top

4-Toss with Fugi Apple Dressing

This salad is geared more towards the summertime. It’s very fresh and fruity. I love this dressing because it’s slightly sweet with a bit of sour apple bite. The croutons give this salad the perfect amount of crunch.

#2: Strawberry Cucumber Apple Spinach Salad
What you will need:

  • 3-5 Strawberries
  • A cucumber
  • Baby Spinach
  • Wonton Strips
  • Panera Bread’s Fugi Apple Vinaigrette Salad Dressing

1- Get a medium-large bowl and fill it 2/3 with your spinach.
2- Slice your strawberries

3-Slice your cucumber medium-thickness, then into chunks

4- Add in some wonton strips

5-Toss with Fugi Apple Dressing

I like this salad better than the previous one. The strawberries along with the cucumber and the wonton strips are a perfect combination. The dressing makes this salad taste very fresh. This is a very refreshing salad, good for an appetizer or if you just want something light.

That’s all for today’s post. I hope you guys enjoyed it, and see you next time!

Back to School Mini-Haul| Clothes + Makeup

Hey everybody! Sorry I haven’t posted for a while. I had a post ready for last Saturday or Tuesday but I couldn’t finish it because I had a YouTube video I made but it took too long to upload. So I haven’t posted in quite some time. Anyways, since I’ve started school, I’ve been very busy and I’ve been thinking about only posting once a week, probably on Saturdays. I want you guys to know that I will be extremely invested in my blog, I just need some time to get other things done. Now I went back to school shopping today and I wanted to show you guys what I got. I didn’t get that much, just some things that are school appropriate and things that I needed, but I thought that I should show you anyways. Let’s get started!

CVS Pharmacy

This may seem like a weird place to shop, but this is where I get most, if not all, of my makeup. It’s affordable and they have a wide selection of brands and beauty products.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara, $10

Sorry about the lighting in this picture, it’s kind of weird but the mascara bottle is metallic light pink.  Anyways, I got this mascara because Maybelline has some of the best mascaras I’ve ever used, and I’ve heard lots of good things about this one plus I don’t like large mascara brushes, and this brush looked nice for me. Another great thing is that this is a volumizing mascara, which is something I love.

I had a coupon for a free Elf cosmetics product with a value of three dollars or less, so I got this brush for free. I got this for my liquid foundation, so it’s easier for me to apply rather than using my fingers. I also went for this one because Elf products are extremely cheap and reliable.

Maybelline Master Glaze Blush Stick in Make a Mauve, $10

I got this because I love this color for the fall time. I’m not sure if it will look great on my skin since I’m kind of pale, but it’s something new for me to try out. Also, I feel like I need to try out new products so I can see what I like, and I figured that since I’ve never tried anything like this, I could find my new favorite thing.

Rimmel London Kate Moss Collection lipstick shade 80, around $8

This lipstick was something that I pinned on Pinterest quite a few months ago because I thought that it would be a nice pink-nude color for me. It is very nice, more pink than nude, but it works on me.

Loft

Loft is a bit more grownup and expensive than where I usually shop, but they have nice things there, so I got just a couple things this time.

Gold Rose Quartz Necklace, $35

This is a very nice necklace. It has a small part that has some little gold “dots” that goes over the collarbone area, and then has some chains that hang down over the chest/upper stomach area. It’s a great way to dress up an outfit or give it a bit of spice.

Black Floral Cami, $25 (Buy one get one free)

I thought this would be cute for school under a little cardigan or something for warmer fall weather. I mostly got it because these were buy one get one free, and my grandma got a different one for free.

Charlotte Russe

I like some things from this store, but I absolutely love their denim. Each pair of jeans is generally around $35, but I wait until they have a sale to buy some.

Pale Pink High Waisted Jeans, $35

(Buy one get one for $12.50 all denim)

Sorry for the lighting in this picture, for some reason it got weird but these jeans are much lighter in real life than in this picture. I got these because I saw my friend wearing a really cute pair of jeans colored similarly to this, so I wanted these. I wanted them to be regular jeans and not high waisted, but these were the only ones they had.

“Push Up” Legging Jeans

Since they had a sale, I got these for pretty much half off. I needed mor plain blue jeans, and these fit nicely with a little bit of growing  room. I think that these are push up for your butt to make it look better, but that doesn’t really matter to me because it’s hard for me to find good fitting jeans anyways.

Papaya Clothing

I love this store because their clothes are super cheap but very  good quality.

Pink Lace Back Cardigan, $13

Again, sorry for my weird lighting today. This is not this shade of pink but it’s close enough. I got this from the last chance rack, it was the last item. I got this because I thought it would  be cute to put over a dress or something that isn’t quite school compliant so I can wear it to school.

Cropped Gray Black Mesh Stripe Sleeve Sweatshirt, $11

This is another item I got form the last canned rack. It was the last item too. It is a couple sizes too big for me, so it’s not as cropped as it’s supposed to be, but it’s still cropped. I like the slightly athletic look.

Brooklyn athletic super soft 3/4 sleeves shirt, $16

To be honest, this is not something I would normally wear. But once I felt how soft it is, I fell in love.  This is way softer than a lot of sweaters and even blankets that I’ve ever felt. The only reason I bought this was because of how soft it is.  I think this will keep me really warm during fall time.

Cropped Thin Red Sweater, $13

I like how simple and nice this piece is. This is easy to match with in fall and winter. They had a couple of other colors like gray and white, but most of my closet is gray, black, and white, so I thought I would try a little more color.

That’s all for today’s post. I hope you guys enjoyed it, and I’ll see you next time!
